This group of singles range from ages 50 – 70+. While we usually gather for lunch after church and have many other social gatherings, our first goal is to grow in our relationship with Jesus Christ.
We meet on campus in Jones Library at 9:30a.m. Due to COVID-19 and CDC guidelines class size is limited, so registration is required.
Our Singles in this group range from ages 50 – 70+. While we usually gather for lunch after church and have many other social gatherings, our first goal is to grow in our relationship with Jesus Christ. We participate in several service opportunities throughout the year and our studies tend to bounce between DVD studies taught by class members or working through a book of the bible.
Many of us also take part in the many activities offered through the Single Life Ministry.
Our current study is You'll Get Through This by Max Lucado.
You'll Get Through This. Whatever "This" is - Financial woes, relationship valleys, health crisis.
You fear you won't make it through. You fear that the depression will never lift, the yelling will never stop, the pain will never leave. Will this gray sky ever brighten? This load ever lighten?
Yes! Deliverance in the Bible is bold, brassy, and everywhere. Consider the Old Testament story of Joseph - tossed in a pit by his brothers, sold into slavery, wrongfully imprisoned. But God wove what was meant for evil into good.
God is in the business of redeeming the broken. He was then. He is still. Do you crave hope for those tough times? Then this is the message you need.
You'll get through this.
It won't be painless.
It won't be quick.
But God will use this mess for good.
Don't be foolish or naive.
But don't despair either.
With God's help, you'll get through this.

Our next study is Making Room: Sharing the Love of Christmas by Dr. Ed Robb.
Often our Advent preparations have an inward focus as we prepare for the significance of God breaking into our world through the birth of the Christ child. But in a closer examination of the Advent story, we quickly learn that the focus of the coming of newborn kin is outward.
In this book and Advent study, Dr. Ed Robb explores the warmth of welcome at Christmas following interactions with Mary and Joseph, the shepherds, and the magi. Just as Jesus made room in God's kingdom for a host of people that society wanted to leave on the margins, beginning with the appearances of the shepherds, we too should be asking ourselves who we can make room for this Christmas.
