Event - Serve It Up: Sam Houston Elementary Children's Gift Bags

Project: Put together Gift Bags for at-risk children at Sam Houston Elementary School

Participants will pick up Project Bags that contain items for a minimum of 4 students. Each project bag will contain items that will be placed in the student Gift Bags (ex. Toothbrush/toothpaste, crayons, activity book). Volunteers will also be asked to purchase approximately $10 per bag of supplementary items (list will be provided) to complete each gift bag. Volunteers will then decorate and assemble each gift bag and deliver the finished bags to the church. Gift bags will be delivered to Sam Houston Elementary School late this Fall. 650 Gift Bags are needed.

Sam Houston Elementary School is part of Conroe ISD and located in downtown Conroe. We have partnered with Sam Houston for the past two years through sending volunteers to serve in the school library, partnering with children as reading buddies, along with providing support for teachers and staff. Many of the children at Sam Houston elementary lack the resources that are found in most other CISD schools. We are called to work with these children to provide hope and success in their lives.
